This painting of Emily is imperfectly nice

Emily is a really beautiful model. I have done a great work painting her, especially at that time this was at the peak of my capacity. Now I see that the eyes are at different height. Huh? Why did I not notice while painting? The size of the head is strange or is it the body? Is the head too big or are the arms to thin? The longer you look the more you find things that could be done better. These issues have to rest now. This painting is what it is:

This painting is imperfectly nice.

When I visited the exhibition of Jan Sluiters I could see one painting with a model that had her eyes on different height. I was standing in front of a painting hanging in a museum and it was a painting of a naked model and she had her eyes on different height. That made me happy.

I have great news! I heard Emily will come to De Stoker again during this season. This means I have another chance to paint her. I hope that the next time she will not have her hair in a knot.

Also notice the oil painting clamp marks on this painting. This is the last painting where I used the oil painting clamp. After this painting I made my first version of the wet panel storage box.
