Elephants in the room - cartoon, 2 December 2019
Woohoo, I made my first cartoon! It has been on my wishlist to make a cartoon for many years. I made some attempts but it never really cut it.
This is a cartoon about the climate crisis. It is based on the saying, "The elephant in the room". That saying is used for an enormous topic that it is obvious that everyone knows about, but no one mentions or wants to discuss it because it makes some uncomfortable or embarrassed.
I experience this a lot these days. Literally. This is the illustration of my feelings of how people right now act. A couple of months ago, they were fierce climate change deniers, and now they are totally proved to be wrong. It is embarrassing indeed.
Here I spiced up the saying by adding several elephants. To make things worse, I made it impossible to ignore the elephants and by showing a man pressed against a wall with his glasses coming off and something splashing out of his cup I show that it is totally impossible to ignore the elephants. This becomes ridiculous because the people in the room, they play a theatre.
So that is it. My first cartoon. Check!
