Bonsai tree

From a distance this painting is not attractive to me. The painting is showing a bonsai tree on a plate. I have to get near to the image and I need to be patient to be able to start appreciate the painting. I have not made any background to this painting and normally that is an indication of that the painting is “unfinished” but I am not sure on this painting. When I look at the shadows I get pleased with the contrast. Various parts have distinct structure and that is nice, it adds to the feeling of mass. After a while of looking at this painting I am surprised that it is so good.

I was born 1967 in Stockholm, Sweden. I grew up in the small village Vågdalen in north Sweden. 1989 I moved to Umeå to study Computer Science at University of Umeå. 1995 I moved to the Netherlands where I live in Almere not far from Amsterdam.
