Applied gypsum boards to the ceiling of the barn

This week, I finished applying boards to the ceiling. I also boarded the walls in a swift tempo.

Monday 23 June

Today I worked from home. In the afternoon, when Merida started to get hungry, she gave me a paw. In the afternoon, she can be in a mode of mischievous, cuddly, and also bitchy. You have to watch out.

In the evening, I put up a board on the ceiling.

Tuesday 24 June

It was a lovely morning. We picked some berries for breakfast. That's a lovely activity to enjoy in the summer. Early in the morning, it is still peaceful. Then, enjoying the taste of the berries is fantastic.

Good morning. Now I am late. When I was just about to get out to take my bike to work. DS was there too. He told me he lost a nut on his front wheel. I searched through my collection of nuts and bolts.

I found a matching nut and put it on his bike so that his front wheel would not come off. He thought that one can bike even if there is just one nut holding a wheel. I disagree; it is not good. Why aren't all bikes just delivered with one nut on the front wheel? Why could that be?

OK, now he had a nut. The wheel is appropriately secured. How about the chain that is jumping off all the time? I also helped him with that. I pulled the back wheel backward so the chain would be more secure. What you should do is remove one link from the chain and pull the wheel forward slightly, so that the chain is properly under pressure. While doing this, he insisted on turning the bike upside down, and while doing that, he swung on my bike so that it fell over. It fell on the back part of the gearing mechanism, the chain. Well. That's slightly annoying because I can no longer reach my highest gear. Not that they need them. Thank you, DS.

Then. When all his bike service was finished, I was late. He did not want to bike together because it was too much social interaction, biking with his dad. Umm. So now I'm biking to work alone.

You are eager to know: How is it going with the ticking sound of my bike? I have the ticking sound. So the experiment failed, you would conclude. Well. It worked brilliantly with the more fluid oil. This is regular SAE W30 engine oil. I will remove the plug and let the oil out. Then I will fill it again with the thinner oil. So. That is the situation on the bike front. I miss my top gears.

Last Friday, I received the gypsum boards. On Sunday, I was busy applying gypsum boards to the ceiling. In my free time, I developed the phoneme conversion program. The blog suffered a priority degradation, so I did not publish any blog posts on Sunday evening. Yesterday I worked on the ceiling boards again. After that, I worked on the blog from last week, but did not finish it.

It is 9:17 AM, and I have arrived at work. Hallelujah. For the rest of the morning, I had the song starting with that word on my mind.

The weather is nice for biking home. A bit windy? The time is 6:45 PM. Yeah, when you arrive late, you have to go late. Simple as that. One good thing when the bike is ticking is that people can hear you coming.

My phoneme conversion program is stuck again. It's those pesky multi-sound patterns causing trouble. The idea is good. It's just when the idea is converted into a program that something gets lost in the process. The idea is that if you have a multi-sound pattern, I'll match it with the original sounds of the word. For example, I have a K and an S, and those sounds could be the letter X. So, if I find an X, then all is fine. The thing is, when I don't find the X, what should I do then? In that case, I need to revisit the multi-sound pattern and attempt to match the individual parts. A substantial amount of work was involved in establishing the infrastructure for this.

Now, here is where it goes wrong: currently, if there are, for example, two sounds, I match these individually, and if I find one of them, I treat this as a success, regardless of what happens with the other sound. If the other sound doesn't match, then the first should not be treated as a success.

Unfortunately, that's wrong. I have been sitting, staring at this source code, and I still don't understand a single iota. But now I understand it. Because I had a case with the word Counterrevolution. There are redundant sounds, so one of the multiple sound matches a single sound as well. This algorithm currently hijacks parts of the word, resulting in a parsing that cannot recover. So when that happens, the rest of the parsing is spoiled. There is no recovery.

I have been working on a solution for a couple of days now, in my spare time and evenings. I'm separating the match registration from the match itself. So now I can take a list of matches. I can inspect the match result before concluding it is a proper match.

I just biked past five geese sitting, staring out at the canal. Typically, this is where professional fishermen set up their tents and expensive gear. I didn't stop to take a photo of the geese. You have to imagine it.

Someone at work didn't want to listen to music today. So it was silent. Interestingly. I made it clear that I have no problems with silence, as long as the AC is not turned on at ridiculous low temperatures. That drives me crazy. I think the message went home. If you read my blog carefully, then you already know that. I enjoyed it. I came home at 7:30 PM.

Wednesday 25 June

I worked from home in the morning. I had one distraction when the lawn mower company came to pick up the" bricked" lawn mower tractor.

In the afternoon, I worked on the ceiling gypsum boards in the barn. I finished the next section of the barn, so now two-thirds of it is boarded. I hope to finish the last part on Friday.

Thursday 26 June

Good morning. The time is 8:25 AM, and I'm on my way to work by car. I decided on the car because it is raining. Yesterday, after work, I finished two-thirds of the ceiling. It would not have been possible to finish the ceiling if I had not been working in the evenings as well.

In the evening, I finished last week's blog. I had a few days off from the phoneme conversion. It was difficult to recall where I was working on the project. Luckily, I've been blogging about the project. I read about it and caught up where I left off. What I need to do now is a bit complex. I also worked on the blog. We have a lot of social activities on the weekend, so there isn't much time for blogging and programming.

I'm on my way home. 7 PM. Overcast and. 22°C is not too bad. It is windy, though.

Friday 27 June

I had good progress this Friday. The ceiling was finished!

Saturday 28 June

In the morning, I worked on the walls. Then we went to the PILs. We celebrated BIL's birthday at the old place of PILs, and then we went to the new place of PILs. They were in a good mood.

Sunday 29 June

Today we had a repetition of yesterday, but it was different. I worked on the walls in the morning, then we went to DD in Rotterdam to celebrate her birthday.

I was exhausted when we came home.

This week I wrote 1343 words. That is not bad.

I moved from Sweden to The Netherlands in 1995.

Here on this site, you find my creations because that is what I do. I create.
