Gypsum boards in the barn
We received the lawn mower tractor this week. That was not all; we received gypsum boards and tiles for the restroom and kitchen. I started boarding the barn interior. DW picked berries and cleaned wool in her spare time. We were busy!
Monday 16 June
Good morning. I cannot understand why Microsoft made it so challenging to start up Word on Android. You need to tap six times to create a new document. To edit an existing document, you need to tap 4 times. You did not come to this blog to hear me complain about Microsoft.
It is a new week! Warm but not hot, so that's beautiful. It's a regular working week. Today, DW has a recording at her work. There were issues with the train, so I had to bring her to the train station. I'm working from home today, so I went home again. I have not finished last week's blog; it still needs to be uploaded.
Just before going to bed last night, I finished the part of the phoneme conversion program that resolves ambiguity. In a situation with more parsing alternatives, the program explores all alternatives. When I got it working, I wondered if I should continue or go to bed hap py. I went to bed happy.
After work, I tried the parsing algorithm. It was indeed much more robust. Successfully parsed something like 1500. That was great. Eventually, it choked on something. I was just about to look into that when DW called me. She asked me to pick her up from the train station.
Merida enjoyed looking at birds. I have to clean the windows, finish the window sills, and arrange the curtains, but for the rest, everything is fine.
We went to bed early because we will get up earlier tomorrow.
Tuesday 17 June
Good morning. Today, the trains are striking for higher wages. TW attended an event today. I brought her to that event in Amsterdam. Then I went to the office in our town. I could bring her to Amsterdam without any traffic jams.
It was lovely weather, so I had instead been biking rather than driving around in the car, but that was not possible today. DW doesn't like to drive in Amsterdam. Besides that, the parking spaces are scarce at the venue. I hope that the event will be an excellent success for DW.
When I drove back, I saw a traffic jam towards Amsterdam. But I was not on that because I drove that motorway earlier.
I might be so early that I can put on my music; that would be excellent. That would be something special. Arrived at the office at 7:35 AM.
In the afternoon, I drove back to Amsterdam and picked up DW. We had an extra passenger in the car as well. It was a neighbor who also had to be in her office.
It was an intense day. We were exhausted when we came home, so we didn't eat a proper dinner. We just had some snacks. DW had participated in a panel discussion on one of the stages. I'm proud of her!
In the evening, I worked on the conversion project. I managed to get from line 17000 to 24000. That's a massive achievement. Much of this is because of the new ambiguity resolver.
Wednesday 18 June
Good morning; it is a marvelous, beautiful morning. The garden is progressing nicely. The potatoes, corn, and courgettes are getting proper volume.
I worked from home in the morning. The lawn mower tractor arrived today!

After work, I drove around and cut some grass in the area between neighbors on the east side of our property. It will take some time getting used to the functions of the mower. I found it easier to remove the reverse block from the cutting. Forward, backward, and keep cutting are my ways of doing it.
Thursday 19 June
Good morning. It's 8:40 AM, and I'm biking to work. I'm a tad late, but Tuesday was long, so that is even out.
Yesterday evening. I worked on the phoneme conversion program. The program was stuck on a line over 24,000 at the word concentrated. I thought it was an error in resolving inaudible sounds for a long time, but that was not the case. The real issue was the letter T in the word concentrated. There are two letters T. This means the ambiguity resolver is kicking in. That is clever. It found the first T, a rogue letter. It puts that in the list of the current parse path. Then came the next proper T. For this key, we need to create a new parse context. That is what the ambiguity function is doing. It creates a new instance that can be taken care of later. The new context instance needs the proper instance of the letter T. To create a new context, I copy the old one, remove the first instance of T from the copy, and insert the proper T.
That's what my brain wanted to program. So what had I programmed? I sorted the instance. So in the current context, the rogue T is no longer the last letter. No, that T was somewhere else. Then I remove the now random character at the end of the list. And inserted a new proper T. Well, that causes havoc. That's you can't say the least. So I fixed the issue. I left the current context unsorted. Then, for the next iteration, when I inserted the second proper T, I removed the last item, which had been previously added. Then I sorted the new instance. It worked much better. Then it was time to go to sleep.
The terror organization formerly known as "Russia" needs 230 years to defeat Ukraine at the current pace. It will cost them at least 100 million casualties.
It is 5:50 PM and I'm biking home. The ticking sound is back. The first time I used fluid oil, I could use a less fluid oil. Another idea is to block the exit hole where the oil dripped away. That way, the shaft will be bathing in a pool of oil. It depends on how the opening looks. I have to look at that.
Today I was called by the tiling company. The rude filing company. The tiles had arrived, and I can come and pick them up. So. That's something I can do tomorrow. I can also put gypsum boards on the walls of the restroom. I already have those boards from when we built the house.
I found a Cherry Tree. No worries. Today, I got an extra sandwich. So, well, on time, I consumed that sandwich. I don't feel so drained today.
Nevertheless, I stopped at the cherry tree I found this morning. The cherries were delicious! I enjoyed that. You would need a tool to make it possible to pick the cherries high up in the tree. I'd like to know what tools there are for that thing.
A large group of kids almost cut me off on an evening walk. This is part of the walking sports of the Netherlands. Around this time of year, the schools arrange evening activities for the kids. They are walking in a large group around the area. There are traffic regulators in bright yellow and orange vests, and here I estimate it was a group of about 200 kids walking on the street. It's blocked. No possibility to get through. This is something they do in the Netherlands. Just live with it. The Walking sports here are big. Where I grew up, we didn't know how to walk. Yeah, you go somewhere you could be walking. But you have a mission, there's a goal. It could be to pick berries, then you go and pick berries, and in essence, you are wandering about without a goal, but the goal is to pick berries.
The Dutch can go for a walk. The goal is to walk in itself. I have this private theory that this emerged during World War II. The Germans tried to kill people by letting them walk. My theory is that the Dutch picked up on that and said You will see us walking. And we will not die. And it's a national sport to walk. And they are. They're doing it to keep themselves healthy. They are less obese. It sure is something that they will benefit from. If the Germans were to come to Sweden and say, well, we, you will walk thousands of kilometers without water and food, many would die. The Dutch arrive at the destination, asking: Where should I be walking next? All the Dutch have their quirks, but they make sense. Like when they are celebrating the king. How do they celebrate their king? Selling garbage.
So I'm at home now, and it is 6:30 PM.
In the evening, I had a DJ workshop with a neighbor. I had set up the gear in the barn. It was great fun! I explained how it works with the DJ controller, how I prepare for a DJ set, and so on.
Friday 20 June
This was a warm day, and it was also an active day. DW worked from home, and I had a day off. I worked on the phoneme conversion program in the morning. In the morning, I had a look at the bike. I found a screw that fit the hole in the bottom of the bike. Then I added a bit of oil. It will be interesting to see if it works.
We received the gypsum boards.
The boards were unloaded on the south side of the barn at the side of the road. I built a ramp up to the door to make transporting the boards easier. We got nine-millimeter boards for the walls. They were stacked on top of the boards intended for the ceiling.
For the ceiling, we ordered 12-millimeter boards. The ceiling boards are one meter and twenty centimeters wide (about 47 inches). The wall boards are only 60 centimeters wide (about 23 inches). I carried the wall boards. I dragged the ceiling boards in on a carriage into the barn.
When all the boards were loaded in the barn, I went to the tiling company and picked up the tiles we ordered a few weeks ago. It was an active, warm day, and I persevered to finish these tasks. I had music in the barn, and the large speakers were from my DJ set. I enjoyed it.
Saturday 21 June
In the morning, Merida met with the neighbor's cat. Until now, she has only been distressed by other cats, but now it looked like she had embraced this situation. It is a new chapter.

Today it was hot. I began the day by cutting the grass along the road between the cubes. The tractor broke. It decided to stop work. The cutting knives were still operational, but the tractor would not move backward or forward. It was even worse since the large wheels were connected to the electric motors and were not rolling freely. I pushed the vehicle back to the driveway. There, I pushed it into the sea container. DW helped me to get the tractor inside the sea container. I called the company we bought the tractor from, and they will have a look at the tractor next week.
The barn was still getting warm, but it was not unpleasant. I started putting up gypsum boards in the restroom. DW worked on washing wool below the barn canopy.
Sunday 22 June
This day was a repetition of the day before. The wind started to pick up, and it was slightly less warm. Today I started on the ceiling. I almost finished the first one-third of the ceiling.
I wrote 2001 words this week. I was busy with the barn, the phoneme conversion program, and all the rest, so the blog writing suffered this week.
